Reflection Project #4
Creating the exhibit was a challenge because I didn't really know what my theme was going to be about. The theme came to me coming across the picture scream by Edward Munch which gave ne the idea of solitude. After being able to figure out the title and then was able to come up with the theme. The picture choosing was a little stressful because I wasn't sure what kind of picture would flow with the theme but after finding the first picture and was able to correlate where my picture for my exhibit was gonna go.
Video Review
1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
In the video The Lowdown on the Lowbrow I was able to understand that the meaning of lowbrow was indicating someone's lack of intelligence which I would have never thought of. Another thing is how a lot of different types of art are all put separate categories but all come together also flow with each other. In the video An acquiring mind: Philippe de Montebello and the Metropolitan
I get to understand what An art curator does and what their roles is within the art museums. another is how knowledgeable they are on a piece of art work.
2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.
The videos does not relate to my creation because mine was about solitude.
3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?
the films were very informative. I like the art that was shown also the art curator in action because it gave me an example of how I should present my art. the video went in-depth on the topics.

Mask making
I chose this at because of its aesthetics look with also the lines all over of it reminded me of a tiki kind of mask.
I chose this one because of the line of the mask the way it was used to make everything look more realistic.
I chose this one because of the texture that show the dark spots being smother than the brown areas. The shape and value of the art.
In my art work I incorporated line and color elements. The process of doing was that I wanted it show a sense vibrance using bright colors (blue, yellow, green, red) also to making it seem more of comical and fun. I really enjoyed doing this because it was fun and a little bit different but in a interesting way. The tongue sticking is to show a sense of fun.

the reason why I chose the two was because I believe it could give me a little more detail in to the artists life.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
the first video was the drawing of Michangelo which went in depth about his influence in the renaissance. the few things I learned in the video was that michangelo destroyed the paint that showed hesitation and anything that showed doubt. Module Blog video review
1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.
The first video I watched was the how art made the world more human than human and the reason that topic was chosen was because that was a required video to watch but also a very interesting one with a lot of informative information. The second video the Greek awakening Art from the 5th century because I felt the two videos could correlate with each other.
2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
the first key point I learned through out this video was that human views of arts is exaggerated. The next thing I learned from the video was that people like to see exotic strange things that they don't fully understand but like. The little birds demonstration to the color stripe on the stick was an example of how people interpret art. The second video I learned a lot from the Greek culture.
3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
the videos starts out by discussing how and when people past and present go towards the more exaggerated look when creating art. In chapter 14 it discussed how the two culture where different from each other. The video and text had the same idea but different outcomes. the second video gave more of an in depth understanding of the art in Greece.
4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
the video to me was very interesting and fun to watch. They added depth to my understanding because it gave me two different view points of how art was interpreted in the past and present. The second video I like because it helped with the understanding of the other video.

Video Review
Architecture: the science Design
1.For this video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The key concepts I learned from the video is that concrete
is the most versatile and in demand material. The Roman Empire used concrete which
was made up of Sand, pebbles, broken stone and cement. The world is growing and
cities are becoming more pact where
there is no space architects tend to build building a little bit higher. There
is a lot of factors that come in to play when architects have to build building an that is the environmental
factors.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The video and the reading relate because the reading discuss
seven diferent ways that construction and how they help in architecture. The
video share the foundation of early
concrete structure but the book goes more in depth with it giving examples and
detailed line diagram to where you can understand how the architect build the
building.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth
to understanding of Architecture?
The first film I believe was very informational but a little
out dated to where we are now. The video goes in depth by giving examples on
how building are made but also how they keep standing. They added depth by
giving examples and just giving us a foundation of how architect construct
buildings.
4. Why did you choose the films that you watched?
I chose the video because I believed it would have giving me
an insight into what architectures do and how they do what they do. The video
gave me exactly what I thought it would have the science behind architecture.
Frank Gehry: Architecture as Art
1.For this video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
The things that I learned in this video is that the architecture
doesn’t like repeating his self meaning he likes the buildings he creates to be
unique in their own way. Frank Gehry wants the people who see the building he
builds to have an emotional response to it. The buildings he creates are not
just like any home they are a work of art.
2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The video and the reading relate to each other is Frank Gehry was the first architect to take
advantage of digital design and manufacturing.
The book had a lot of information on Frank Gehry and his work and the video
gave a more personal perspective on how he creates building and what his mind
set is like during that process.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth
to understanding of Architecture?
The film to me was very long but informative and little bit
entertaining. The film goes in depth about it in a way because it made me see the
architecture process in his eyes and how he see the building he created because
that was always a wonder of mine.
4. Why did you choose the films that you watched?
I chose the film because I wanted to understand and see what
architecture goes through and their process to creating the buildings the
build.

. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned
The first video follow a artist name Emmanuel Fillion who was born and raised in France. In his life he grew up around limestone quarry which lead him to work as a restoration artist. In the video it depicts Emanuel view point to creating a sculpture in which there were steps he had to take for instance asking weather a sculpture is going to be inside of a building or outside of a building another step he took was to be precise in realizing that everything had to interact with a technicality. The video over all shows the steps the artist took to creating a sculpture. The Glass Ceramics video shows that glass can can be use create art. The one thing i found very interesting was that the had to break the glass and put in back together like a puzzle piece to create a window. Making of glass includes sand and fluxes that a heat 1500 hundred degrees. that was very interesting to me to find out.How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
The films and the book are similar but i believe the book give more information. the video goes in depth about the artist view which i found very interesting to watch because it made me understand his point of view and how that came be. The book goes more in dept to creating a sculpture and giving examples. Both the book and videos gave very different view point on the topic but all came together in the end
What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics: Sculpture, Installation, and Craft?
In my perspective i liked the video of the artist Emanuel fillion because it gives me an artist personal perspective of creating a sculpture. He took many steps in which he fallowed to creating and restoring art. The film was very in dept and informative.
Review of Aliyah Jackson
Project 1http://artwithaliyah2.blogspot.com/2017/09/project1.html
The images that were displayed showed a very unique way displaying the elements. I especially like the photo that she displayed as rhythm with the group of dancers i though that was creative and i wish i had incorporated something similar to that into my project. Their was a comment on the post i did agree with although the project was good it could i have a little of the outside world in it to improves it overall. I also like the chicken and the man who where used to show proportion which i though was a little funny but overall represented it very well.
http://artwithaliyah2.blogspot.com/2017/10/the-met-visit.html
In Project two their wasnt much said but i do like the painting she captured. The painting that i like the most was the Bruce Nauman Human nature /life or death (1983) i agree with her when she said that it reminded her of home because it reminded me of Manhattan new York with all the light ll around you in the night time.
Review of samantha Houghton
https://arteducation200.blogspot.com/2017/09/elements-and-principles-slideshow.htmlIn the Project i really like how she demonstrated the elements in her project, especially the vacation trip picture that was use to display proportion which i though was an excellent way to show that element. i find her project very unique and i wish i had incorporated something similar to my project.
http://artwithaliyah2.blogspot.com/2017/10/the-met-visit.html
the images that was captured in the picture was represented something from the artist samantha was able to capture that within her writing. The picture with cinema by George Segal was a very unique photo andi like itcause it shows a little rebel spray painting it.

Logo Design
1. Discuss what you thought about creating your logo.
Creating the logo was a little bit difficult because it was
hard to find something that represented me. The uniqueness of the logo
hadrepresent who I am as a person but also show my values also. I am a very
simple kind of guy so trying not to make the logo to extravagant but simple
2. Describe the process: creative thinking skills and ideas
you used in the logo creation.
The process was first figuring out what was going to be in
the logo which at first was hard to figure out but eventually came to the
conclusion that whats more me than the letters in the starting of my name. Once
I figured that out I began looking at ways to design it but trying not to be
extravagant but simple. The skills that was used was the steady hand I used to paint
the design and the colors to match
3. What was the most important discovery you made in the
creation of your logo?
The most important discovery that I learned was that creating
sign , image or even a logo that represent you or something else isn’t easy to
do. The process was definetly a learning experience and one I will never
forget.
4. What is the most important information you learned from
watching the videos, powerpoint, and reading material for this project? What is your opinion of the
videos?
The most important thing that I learned was that the big
company put a lot of time and effort into creating the logo that represents their
company. The process in order to make sure that the customers they have can
incorporate the message they are trying to convey through the logo definetly
seem to be a very tough task at hand.
Module Five Project #2
A.) Which artworks make an impact or impression on me? Why?
The artwork that made an impression on me is
the Cupid as Link boy by Joshua Reynolds. The first thing about the picture that I saw was the little boy with wings which made me wonder
why would the artist draw a little boy with wings on his back with what seems
to look like a wooden stake in his hand
with the name cupid. I would infer that
he is the opposite of love which the much known version cupid represents and he
represents hate. Looking closer to it you could see the back ground is very
dark and gloomy which brings out the darkness that he represents. The art work
made an impression because of the way it stands out at you and make you think
The next painting that made an impression was the Le
matin en Provence (Morning in Provence), ca. 1900-1906 by Paul Cezanne. It Depicts a farm like home with a big open
field and house right on it. The thing that caught my eye about it is that the
picture had big dots of paint that create a beautiful piece of art work which
made me like it even more cause of the uniqueness.
B.) Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why?
B.) Which artworks do I feel a connection with? Why?
The first artwork I feel a connection with is the music and
literature 1878 by William Michael Harnett piece. I feel like I have a connection to it because
I love music and literature because both gives me a sense of
freedom and expression. When the artist put
both of those things together it’s like giving a little glimpse of who I am.
The
second artwork that I had a connection was the unfinished portrait sketch by
Seymour Haden which depicted a human’s body but with no face which makes it
faceless. The connection I feel with this painting is that sometime I do feel
like I am incomplete and I believe until we die we are never truly complete. The
life that we leave is to find ourselves which makes a complete. The sketch for
me has a deeper meaning than what it portrays
C.) Which artworks would I like to know more about? Why?
C.) Which artworks would I like to know more about? Why?
The Artwork that I want to know
more about is the L’Age d’Airain( Age of Bronze) 1875-1876. The reason I want
to know more is because I am a little confuse at to what the statue really
means and what’s the story behind. From looking at It can infer that the artist
was maybe trying to show how a regular man is supposed to be depicted.
Another
artwork that I would want to get a clearer understanding of is the Die Knieende
by Wilhelm Lehmbruck which depicts a
woman kneeling on her knees with her skirt down. This statue confuses me and
what it related to in that time periodSaturday, September 23, 2017

Module 2 Blog H/W
1. For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned.
Aesthetics: philosophy of art
A) Aristotle book poetics changed simplied art
B) plato believe artit where copying a copy
Art change the world was viewed
Evolutionary origin of art
Both speaker gave a different view of art and understanding with was Changeux viewed it as a human production while Ramachandarian viewed it as a exaggerated image.
2. Which philosopher's theroy on aesthetics do you feel is most important? Be sure to mention the philosphers name, era (time in history), and contribution to the aesthetic theory in your response.
I believe Aristotle theory in katharsis was most important. The philosopher is Aristotle around the 18th century and the contribution was that Aristotle book the poetic was fairly a rebuttal to his teacher Plato perceptive of art. The book was very influential on the topic art theory and it was very simple.
3. What do you think about Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art? What was the most interesting fact you discovered from each speakers lecture?
Both speakers gave very clear and understandable view of their perspective on Aesthetics and art. One of the interesting things i found out listening to Ramachandarian lecture was he definition of art which was that creating art is to exaggerate any image to please the human brain. He also had eight laws of art which i found to be very informative. On the other hand Changeux view of art was very different an unique from Ramchandarian, his definition was more human production which he believes it is a way of communication. The most interesting thing was his way of thinking of art as a human way of communication which in a sense is true. Art is sometimes a way of communicating.
4. How do the videos and article relate to the readings in the text?
they all relate in many different ways because they are all expressed and view in a different perspective
5. What is your opinion of the films and article? How do they add depth to understanding of the topics in your reading in the text?
my opinion on the film was that it was intriguing and very informational with the different perspective of art. The videos definitely add depth to my understanding of what art is and how it has affected our history. They made it a little more clearer to understand than the reading text. I also got different view of how art is defined.
